The Best of Kenya Safari

This 7 day luxury camping safari includes visits to the best wildlife areas in East Africa - offering a diverse variety of species including all the well known big game animals. Travel between the parks is by air to avoid long road journeys and accommodation is in luxury tented camps. All game drives are in 4x4 safari vehicles (not vans) and there is the opportunity to experience a Balloon Safari.

Daily departures are from Nairobi. Then transport by road from Nairobi to Amboseli Porini Camp and then flights from Amboseli to Samburu Intrepids Club, Mara Porini Camp and back to Nairobi.

Itinerary

6 nights / 7 days

Day 1

Depart Nairobi and drive south to Selenkay Conservancy (a 4 hour journey of 102 miles), arriving at Amboseli Porini Camp before lunch. Afternoon tea, followed by an escorted walk with Maasai warriors to a village to get an insight into their fascinating culture and way of life. Return to camp for a shower, dinner and overnight.

Day 2

After an early breakfast, drive to Amboseli National Park for a morning game drive within the Park to see the elephants at close quarters, followed by a picnic lunch. In the afternoon you will return to Porini Camp for a rest and then an evening game drive in Selenkay Conservancy, ending with a sundowner at a scenic spot. Return to Amboseli orini Camp for dinner after which there will be a night game drive using a spotlight to seek out some of the nocturnal animals such as aardvarks (antbears), serval cats, bat-eared foxes and possibly even the elusive leopard. Overnight Porini Camp.

Day 3

Early breakfast and then drive into Amboseli park and on to the airstrip to fly to Samburu, arriving by 1 pm for lunch at the Samburu Intrepids Club, where you will stay for 2 nights. Afternoon game drive in Samburu National Reserve.

Day 4

Morning and afternoon game drives in Samburu and overnight at Samburu Intrepids Club.

Day 5

Early morning game drive and than after breakfast you will fly from Samburu to the Mara to stay the next 2 nights at Mara Porini Camp. In the evening you will take a game drive to explore the area around the camp and to seek out the wildlife for which the Mara is famous.

Day 6

*Optional Balloon Safari and Champange Breakfast.

A full day in the Mara with a picnic lunch when you can expect to find lions as well as many of the other species found in the Mara which include leopard, cheetah, hyena, elephant, rhino, topi, eland, wildebeest, zebra, hippo and buffalo.

Day 7

Transfer to the airstrip for the 11am flight back to Nairobi, arriving around 12.15pm.

Prices include: Pick up JKI Airport and transfer to Nairobi Tented Camp in Nairobi National Park for 1 night. After breakfast check out and start your safari by road to Amboseli, 2 nights in Porini Amboseli Camp with daily Selenkay Conservancy fees and one day Amboseli National Park entrance fee, Maasai village visit then afterwards check out and fly to Wilson Airport where you will connect to another schedule flight to Samburu, met and transferred to Samburu Intrepids Camp for 2 nights with daily Samburu park fees, check out and fly to Siana Airstrip, met and transferred to Porini Mara Camp for 2 nights with daily Ol Kinyei & Naboisho Conservancy fees and one day Masai Mara Game Reserve entrance fee, then last day fly back to Wilson Airport and transferred to JKI airport for your departure flight. Porini camps are based on full board basis including soft drinks, beer, house wine, gin & tonic, mineral water, return airstrip transfers, day & night shared game drives in open sided 4x4 safari vehicle with qualified guide, sundowners, walks with Maasai warriors while Nairobi Tented Camp includes bed & breakfast basis, soft drinks, mineral water, house wines, local beer and local spirits then Samburu Intrepids Camp includes airstrip transfers, shared game drives and full board basis.

Child rates applicable for 08 – 16 year olds:

1 child sharing with 2 adults, child pays child package price above while the 2 adults pay per adult sharing rate.

1 child sharing with 1 adult, child pays child package price above while the 1 adult pays single adult rate.

2 or 3 children sharing in own tent, each child pays 75% of per adult rate. Child under 8 years not recommended.

Exclusive vehicle use at Porini Camps:

Sole use of the open sided 4x4 safari vehicle during game drive US$ 375 per vehicle per day.

Christmas & new year supplement at Porini Camps:

On 24, 25, 26, 31 Dec 2012 & 01 Jan 2013 is US$ 40 per person per night.

Late afternoon departure at Porini Camps:

Late departure after 12h00 US$ 125 per person minimum 2 pax (includes lunch, soft drinks and activities before departure in the late afternoon).

Flight supplements:

Schedule flight: For flying from Nairobi to Amboseli US$ 50 per adult one way & US$ 35 per child (02 – 12 years) one way.

Charter flight: From 20th December 2012 to 31st March 2013 & from 01st July 2013 to 31st October 2013 we will offer daily charter flights with minimum 2 pax between Nairobi, Wilson Airport and Amboseli, Selenkay Airstrip which is very close to Porini Amboseli Camp & Selenkay Adventure Camp. The supplement will be the same as if using schedule flight as provided above. The charter flight is only 35 minutes departing Nairobi, Wilson Airport at 08h00 and arriving Amboseli, Selenkay Airstrip at 08h35. (Camp’s vehicle transfer to Porini Amboseli Camp or Selenkay Adventure Camp for free).
 
Mombasa: For flying from Masai Mara to Diani/Ukunda/Moi Airport instead of flying to Nairobi US$ 380 per adult & US$ 200 per child 10 – 11 years (one way flight). Includes late departure charge & mandatory $80 park fee.

 

Extra night rate at Porini Mara Camp:

For every 2 or 3 night stay one visit into Masai Mara National Reserve is included. Any extra visit into the reserve must pay US $ 80 per person per day on top of above rates.
