A 6 night / 7 day safari taking in 2 dramatic parks that rise up from the shores of Lake Tanganyikaand home to Chimpanzees. An excellent safari to experience and learn about these amazing primates. The safari also includes a visit to the oldest town in Western Tanzania, once home to Dr David Livingstone.

3 NIGHTS MAHALE MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK AND 3 NIGHTS GOMBE STREAM NATIONAL PARK. Safari starts in Arusha and ends in Dar es Saleem with optional extension to Zanzibar.

Day 1 (Mon or Thur) – Arusha / Mahale Mountains National Park

Depart Arusha at 08.00am on a shared Charter from Arusha to Mahale. Met at the airstrip and transfer to the lodge by boat. In the afternoon take short Chimpanzee track in the pristine forest. Dinner and enjoy the bonfire on the beach. Overnight Kungwe Beach Lodge.

Day 2 – Mahale Mountains National Park

Breakfast and then leave at 08.00 am for Chimpanzee tracking in the forest returning to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, relax at the lodge, walk along the beach or take a bird watching boat safari. Overnight Kungwe Beach Lodge

Day 3 – Mahale Mountains National Park

Breakfast and then leave at 08.00 am for Chimpanzee tracking in the forest returning to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, relax at the lodge, walk along the beach or go out fishing in Lake Tanganyika. Dinner and bonfire at the lodge. Overnight Kungwe Beach lodge

Day 4 – Mahale Mountains National Park / Gombe Streams National Park

Early breakfast and then at 07.00 transfer by boat to Kigoma Hilltop Hotel. Lunch at the Hotel and then transfer by boat to Gombe Streams National Park, made famous by the primatologist Dr. Jane Goodall. Dinner and Overnight Gombe Forest Lodge.

Day 5 – Gombe Streams National Park

07.00am Breakfast at the lodge and then start Chimpanzee Tracking in the forest. Enjoy a trek to Kakombe Water Falls if time allows. Overnight Gombe Forest Lodge.

Day 6 – Gombe Streams National Park

07.00am Breakfast at the lodge and then start Chimpanzee Tracking in the forest. Climb to Jane’s Peak, time allowing. Overnight Gombe Forest Lodge.  

Day 7 – Gombe Streams National Park /

06.00 Breakfast at the lodge and then at 07.00 transfer to the Lake for boat departure to Kigoma. Lunch at the Kigoma Hilltop Hotel followed by tour of Kigoma and Ujiji Towns. Ujiji is the oldest town in Western Tanzania and the place where Burton and Speke first reached the shore of Lake Tanganyika in 1858. It is also the site of the famous meeting on November 10, 1871 when Stanley found Dr. David Livingstone, with the words "Dr. Livingstone, I presume?". At 16.35 transfer to the airport for Precision Air Flight to Dar Es Salaam, arriving at 19.20.

CHILD POLICY: Less than 12yrs sharing room with 1 or 2 adults, each pay 60% of adult rate. Children under 12 yrs are NOT allowed on Chimp Tracking. Those remaining at the lodge to be supervised by an accompanying adult all the times.
