The Lodge is located on the outskirts of Karatu on the lower slopes of the Ngorongoro Crater – a leisurely 2 or 3 hours drive from Arusha or Kilimanjaro Airport and a 45 minute drive from Lake Manyara Airfield.

The Plantation Lodge is surrounded by coffee plantations and the famous “Green hills of africa” that already Hemingway found so inspiring. Replete with charm and comfort the Lodge is hidden in the heart of the African bush and in the center of the legendary East-African safari !
From your veranda you have a view of a romantic park – enjoy the luxuriant colors and fragrant blossom splendor.
Walk underneath the avocado and eucalyptus trees and listen to the various voices of over 40 different kinds of domestic birds. Observe the snuggling geckos doing their mating dance or the cackling geese on their way to the morning bath.
Rooms
This small hotel has just 15 elegant, en-suite rooms. Every room has its own style. African safari-antiques and Tanzanian arts and crafts dominate the room, without neglecting the modern European comfort. Bedroom, veranda, or bathroom – all rooms and facilities are designed with love for the detail and convey a very special way of living.
There is also a group house, with four double suites, all en suite and a large dining room. This is ideal for a family or large group
Activities
Observe the glowing sun setting down behind the famous green hills, whilst having a “Sundowner” at the pool. Let your soul be free, be safe and relaxed amidst the incomparable and unforgettable ambient atmosphere of the Plantation Lodge in the middle of the african bush or enjoy a guided walk through the park-like gardens and coffee plantations, where you can learn and see how coffee is processed.
