Jan Harmsgat Country House

Day 1

Make your way to O.R. Tambo International Airport. You are met and assisted to domestic departures to check in for your onward flight to Cape Town. On arrival in Cape Town you will collect your Avis rental car (terms & conditions detailed below) and drive through to your first destination, Swellendam (A drive or approximately two hours).

After Cape Town and Stellenbosch, Swellendam is the third oldest settlement in South Africa. Laying at the foot of the beautiful Langeberg mountains this place is famous for its architecture and its history. Spend ONE night at Jan Harmsgat Country House in a standard suite on bed and breakfast basis.

St James of Knysna

Day 2-3

After breakfast this morning you will leave Swellendam and drive through to Knysna. This is a beautiful, scenic drive of approximately three hours and thirty minutes.

Knysna is one of the Garden Route's best known travel destinations - situated between lush forests and the shores of the peaceful estuary. It offers many activities and attractions to a wide variety of people. Spend TWO nights at St James of Knysna in a Junior Suite on bed and breakfast basis

Hog Hollow Country Lodge

Day 4-5

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast today before heading off on a short drive to your next destinations - Plettenberg Bay. This drive should take you approximately forty-five minutes. The area of Plettenberg Bay is of course a sports paradise and boasts fabulous trails for hikers, mountain bikers, horse riders and canoeists. The highlight of the area is undoubtedly the rivers, beaches and the bay with its ideal conditions for all facets of watersports, including sailing in the safe waters of the Bay, superb rock and surf fishing and scuba diving spots. Alternately one can simply stroll along its clean, sandy beaches stretching for miles along the Indian Ocean or enjoy its safe swimming areas. At night, Plettenberg Bay is alive with pubs, night-spots and fine restaurants. Spend TWO nights at Hog Hollow Country Lodge in a luxury room on a bed and breakfast basis.

Day 6 This morning you will depart Plettenberg Bay and drive to George Airport (a drive of approximately one hour) where you will check-in for your flight to Johannesburg. The flight back to Johannesburg will take approximately an hour and fifty minutes.

Avis Car Hire Terms and Conditions - 2008:

Rates for the Super Cover Car Hire include:

  • Unlimited mileage
  • Collision damage waiver and Theft Waiver
  • VAT and Tourism Levy
  • Personal Accident Insurance
  • General Sales Tax
  • Windscreen Breakage

The rates for the Super Cover Car Hire exclude:

A deposit of R1080.00- 2000.00, depending on car group, that will be held against your credit card to cover the following:

  • Stamp duty
  • Excess value on CDW and TLW (should damage/loss occur)
  • Delivery/Collection fees (R119.00 and upwards depending on time and distance)
  • One way drop-off fees from R357-00 to R550-00
  • Additional driver (R119.00 per additional driver)
  • Other driver related costs e.g. young driver fee (R 108.00 per day)
  • Contract fee (R27.00)
  • Accident claim and traffic fine fees (from R178.00 to R432.00 per claim/fine)
  • Cross border fees
  • Other fees relating to equipment, no shows, damage, special equipment (e.g. baby seats at R119.00 per seat for the total rental)
  • Over Border Road Tax/Toll Fees (varies: see contract)

Please note - the above charges exclude 14% VAT (Value Added Tax) which will be calculated on the total of all charges that are billed to your credit card.

CDW covers 100% of the applicable responsibility for damage in the event of collision, excluding excess. However, the renter is still responsible for 100% of the damage incurred if caused by negligence (do not park your car in insecure places, particularly overnight) or accidents on gravel roads where no other vehicle, animal or object is involved.
