Akagera Game Lodge

Located about two and a half hours’ drive north-east of Kigali, Akagera Game Lodge is within the boundaries of Akagera National Park in Rwanda’s Eastern Province. The lodge has an attractive setting on a ridge with views over Lake Ihema. The surrounding area has a wealth of Big Game and other wildlife on the open savannah and in the protected woodland, lakes, swamps and marshland.

The lodge has an attractive swimming pool - ideal for cooling down in the African sunshine after a morning’s game drive on the game-filled plains. The Shoebill Restaurant has a good buffet service with international cuisine using fresh local ingredients and the Elephant Bar & Lounge invites guests to relax and enjoy a drink on its picturesque terrace with views out over the Lake.

Accommodation:

Akagera Game Lodge has double and single rooms, Executive Suites and (for larger groups) charming individual cottages with patios looking out over Lake Ihema. All rooms are decorated in a pan-African theme and feature an en suite bathroom and a satellite television. Room service is available.

Facilities: 

The Shoebill Restaurant at Akagera Game Lodge serves a buffet breakfast and lunch and dinner is buffet or a la carte. The Chef prepares an assortment of tasty international-style dishes as well as regional specialities.

The adjoining Elephant Bar & Lounge serves beverages and snacks and provides an ideal retreat at which to unwind with a beer or cocktail after a long day’s safari. From here you can step out onto the terrace which has a lovely view across the swimming pool and beyond to Lake Ihema.

There is a pool-side snack bar and a towel service and on-site tennis court.

Activities: 

The Safari Desk can organise game drives and guided walks within the Akagera National Park as well as fishing and bird-watching trips.
